This 276,000 SQ FT 4-story building Regional Research Facility was purchased from Qualcomm in mid-2015.

The C&S project, designed by Gensler, included a complete reskin and gut of the existing building. All that remained was the structure and 2-elevators. 4 additional elevators and new egress and communicating stairs were installed. All central plant equipment was replaced and upsized with redundancy to meet higher lab demand. The roof was completely replaced.

Gensler designed an art feature consisting of 1,400 metal fins that mimics the DNA strand. California Sheet Metal fabricated and installed this award-winning structure. The TI was designed by HOK and introduced intense laboratory spaces that included both chemistry and biology labs, a NexGen robotics lab and a large vivarium.

Office, conference, and collaboration spaces were also included. DPR Construction was the General Contractor on this project, who completed this large improvement in 9-months, with Certified LEED Gold.
