Sanford Consortium for Regenerative Medicine: La Jolla

PROJECT DETAILS
This 150,000 SF, 4-story cast-in-place concrete laboratory serves as a cutting-edge research hub for a collaboration between UCSD, La Jolla Institute for Allergy & Immunology, the Salk Institute, and the Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute. The facility includes a 24,000 SF vivarium, and a separate 2-story steel-framed structure houses a café and a 150-seat auditorium. The project proudly achieved LEED Gold certification.
Funded through a mix of public CIRM grants and private donations, and situated on University of California San Diego property, the project required meticulous management to represent the interests of investors. Our services included monthly cash flow reporting against work-in-place, contract and cost consulting, and comprehensive oversight of change orders. Additionally, we coordinated the relocation of 28 research groups from four institutions, managing the development of an RFP and selecting the ideal moving company to ensure a smooth transition.
This project stands as a model of collaboration, sustainability, and innovation in the life sciences community.
