San Diego Community College District - West City Campus
PROJECT DETAILS
With the San Diego Community College District’s (SDCCD) acquisition of a 60-year-old San Diego City Schools site, the vision for a new 40,000 SF, two-story continuing education facility in Point Loma came to life. This ambitious project faced complex structural design challenges, ultimately resolved through an innovative stone column substructure to support the building on deeply liquefied soil conditions. The design was rigorously reviewed and approved by the Division of State Architect (DSA), ensuring its safety and stability.
As a LEED Gold Certified facility, the project emphasized sustainability and high-performance standards. Intersect’s construction management expertise included onsite coordination with the general contractor, close collaboration with the DSA Inspector, and direct communication with SDCCD’s professional staff. We managed every detail of the construction process, from overseeing the demolition of existing structures and asbestos abatement to implementing ground-up construction. Effective change management and strict schedule oversight were key to delivering this facility on time and in line with client objectives. Let Intersect’s expertise in construction management and innovative problem-solving drive your next project to success!
