With the SDCCD’s purchase of a 60-year old San Diego City Schools site, they set their sights on developing a new continuing education property. Located in Point Loma, this 40,000 SF 2-story facility went through a challenging and innovative structural design/review. Approved by the Division of State Architect (DSA), and stone column design was developed to support the building where soil conditions are deeply liquified.
As a LEED Gold Certified facility, construction management included the onsite management of the general contractor, coordination with the DSA Inspector, and full liaising with SDCCD’s professional staff. Overseeing change/change management and schedule management were key to meeting client objectives.
